TEQUESTA, FL – On October 17th, Tequesta Country Club played host to the 2nd Annual Sunrise Cares Charity Golf Classic. The annual event was established by a group of caring adults and a few select high school students who have focused on helping adolescents. Sunrise Cares, a non-profit organization, used the funds raised from the golf event to help organizations that assist people in need. See Event Sponsors in 2016

The day’s event kicked off with a shotgun start to playing 18 terrific holes of golf and participation in the glass breaking contest and chipping wall. On one hole golfers were able to shoot their ball toward the green with the legendary canon shotgun.

Afterwards a complimentary lunch, raffle, and awards presentation was held in the Tequesta Country Club Banquet Room. Many fun memorabilia were bid on in the auction including: a Tiger Woods autographed flag, a Gary Player autographed flag, a Florida State autographed football by Jimbo Fisher, and a Duke basketball autographed by the team.
The beneficiaries of this year’s event included the Forever Frosty Foundation, dedicated to advancing the conversation about suicide awareness and overcoming the stigma of mental health issues in teens, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide, and the Alliance for Eating Disorders Awareness (“The Alliance”), dedicated to providing programs and activities aimed at outreach, education, and early intervention for eating disorders.
This event served as a great opportunity to meet some of South Florida’s community leaders, who all came together at the 2nd Annual Sunrise Cares Charity Golf Classic.
Sunrise Cares Committee Chairperson Angela Celey expressly thanked everyone who participated in helping Sunrise Cares realize their goal of helping others, especially the players themselves who donated and the numerous individual donations of people who financially helped out.
